wyldfyr asked: It was at a public school. My grandson sang lots of Christmas carols and they sounded great. To be honest, they included a song about Chanukah. I think these stories about Christians being persecuted by godless liberals and not being allowed to celebrate Christmas is a myth.
If someone is going out at night and vandalizing Christmas decorations at private homes, I doubt if they are in the ACLU or even godless liberals. What they are is common criminals. If this is really happening file a police report.
The USA Today and the Washington Post articles are excellent. They hit the nail on the head. Thanks.

Jesus asked: Satan is trying to sabotage you religious people. Take Christmas. Santa comes on Christmas. Santa is an anagram for Satan. So this guy who’s cleverly disguised as a good fat guy with a name of the devil gives good happy religious people presents on Jesus’s birthday. Satan gives kids presents on Jesus’s birthday. How does that all work out? You people should try to ban Christmas present giving so I can dislike religion more.

hellothere asked: I don’t celebrate in Christmas for 2 reasons. Firstly, as anti-capitalist, Xmas unfortunately has become a celebration of commercialism and consumerism than joy or love. Secondly, a part of my family is orthodox Christians who only celebrate holidays in accordance with the Bible. Jesus was born in the springtime, not on Dec 25, which is was actually the pagan day of worship for the Sun God. King Constantinople in an attempt to convert pagans to christians, chose that day to celebrate Christ’s birthday. Orthodox Christians do not believe the day should be honored. Sometimes, it’s very awkward to have people giving you well wishes and not be able to reciprocate or receive them. I work in mainstream media and it is customary to say to people happy holidays or merry christmas. I would like to remain true to myself and beliefs. What would be the appropriate response to such well wishes without giving too explanatory of a response?

no one asked: I have a 3 month old boy and my relatives will not stop pressuring me to put together a xmas wishlist for him. Since this is my second child, I do not need clothes or any sort of baby item that I think I would need, and God knows I don’t need more useless clutter and stupid toys. Does anyone have ideas of things I could put on a wishlist for him? Unfortunately, cash for his savings account is not an option. Keep in mind that he will only be 6 months at xmas time.

shadowofears asked: Why don’t Christians believe any of the other virgin births and savior stories recorded in ancient literature? How is it that the ritual of Christian communion existed in the prior pagan ceremonies of eating the body and drinking the blood of their gods? How is it that the Christian ritual of baptism also existed in the prior pagan cults? Weren’t the very defining doctrines of Christianity actually assimilated from the endemic pagan cults? Likewise, why are Easter, Christmas, the Lenten season, rogation days, and others, derived from pagan holidays. Didn’t Christianity have any legitimate calendar of commemorations of its own?
Sadly enough, once all of this detailed evidence has been presented by Western scholars in support of the fact that all of these matters were acts of pagan worship and belief centuries before the coming of Jesus, even with all of this, the adamant orthodox will ever manage to find a way out. It is quite simple really, they will explain, All of these countless pagan cults from all over the earth must have had prior knowledge of the coming of Jesus and inserted the story of his life into pagan mythology centuries before his actual arrival.

????? asked: Christian theology borrowed more than the myth of the saving godman. Initiation by baptism, communion with the God through a holy meal, the Holy Spirit, monotheism, and immortality of the soul all belonged many ancient faiths. They were simply part of ancient Mediterranean culture.
Christianity also borrowed elements of Jesus’ mythology. Sons of God born of a mortal woman, and miracles (including turning water into wine, walking on water, and especially healing the sick) were common elements of pre-Christian Pagan religions. Mithras had ‘em. So did Dionysus, Attis, Osiris, and Orpheus. And more.
And they had them centuries before Christianity was a twinkle in Saint Paul’s eye.

Greece as the cradle of civilization
Greek mythology is the study of ancient Greek myths and legends which were their heroes and considered to be Gods. It also includes the information of their rituals and religious beliefs. Most modern scholars read about the ancient Greek history so that they can have an understanding of the ancient Greek civilization and understand the process of myth formation.
Greek mythology has substantial influence on culture, arts and literature of the entire world and especially on western culture. It has been a great inspiration of the poets and writers and there are many great books written on Greek mythology. Greece is always considered by land of gods and has a glorious history. Greek mythology has always been rich in arts and paintings. Greek myths are also able to explain the origin and development of the world.
There are many travelers in Greek to just see the Greek history and know more about their myths and beliefs. There are many islands in Greek which are the attraction of tourists and have been famous as most visited tourists spot in the world. There are many literary sources which explain the Greek history and they all are written in forms of poems.
The Greek islands are not just about the goddess and gods but there are also many beautiful sites and architecture. Greece is now one of the favorite holiday destination now and there are millions of people travelling to Greece yearly. Greece is a complete place to enjoy your holiday as there is both ancient history and modern facilities like good hotels, taxi services and good roads etc.
There are also many beaches, mountains and other sights. There are also many sites to visit and you can also have a look at Pantheon. Greece is also known as cradle of civilization. Many things started from Greece like Olympics. Most studies and research actually started from Greece and arts, science, history, philosophy and many other branches of studies actually started from Greece.
Greeks also defined Thanatos which is grim fate of dead people. Thanatos is the evil power which is working against good and it can appear in any person. Thanatos is also considered as symbol of sorrow and pain and is said to brings sadness and misfortune in life. There are also many other conceptions like person becomes aggressive and can even kill himself when affected by Thanatos. This concept is also added in physiology and medicine.
The concept of Hell was also emerged from Greek. Hell is considered to be the place where people suffer after their death because of the sins committed by them in their life. Hell is a place where a person is punished for his evil deeds and he cannot escape from his sins.
Allusions were also considered to be developed by Greeks. Allusions are figures and representation of myths. Many allusions of gods were also made. Now the concept of allusions is also used in literature and books.
Greeks also used to use symbols for everything. There were many symbols are gods, myths, evil powers etc. In end we can conclude that Greek mythology is complete and has every possible thing.

Marbard asked: My mum loved a book when she was growing up in Cyprus- and I’d love to buy her it in Greek so that she can enjoy it again. It’s something she lost years ago, but read a lot as she was growing up. She thinks it was called the Odyssey - but I’m not sure if it’s the Homer classic or not. All she remembers is that it covered most Greek myths/ gods godesses. I don′t want an English translation, but would like to find a book shop that specialises in Greek books - preferably in the UK or available to buy from the UK. Does anyone know where I can try? It would be really nice to find this book or something similar for Christmas - it’s something she would treasure.

Brian D asked: We have a small pine that my husband left Christmas lights on for over a year. I recently noticed that it is dying and some needles and branches are turning brown. I had my husband take the lights off, but I want to know if there is anything else we can do to help restore this tree. I heard that 7 up works. Is that a myth or are there any other home remedies that could help?

i_l_pandora_l_i asked: Firstly i want to state that i’m not looking for a moral lesson or a religious view. I just want honest answers and no flames.
I had protected sex for the first time in the middle of Dec. i should have gotten my period a few days before christmas. Since then i’ve taken 2 pregnancy tests, both came out negative but still no period. Is it normal to still get a negative result after that long ifyou are pregnant? I am planning on going to the dr with in the next week but i would like some feedback and also what i should expect in going to the dr, but also some symptoms on what an early pregnancy are, i’ve looked online but everything is really general and could be many pms symptoms.
The possible myth i heard was from a friend, she said sometimes after your first time having sex you are late. Has anyone else heard this/ was this true for you?
